An “Under Construction” flash video on the Ryu Ga Gotoku site ends with a message letting fans know more Yakuza 5 information is coming on 24th May.
A small screen, flanked on the left by Kiryu, suggests that the next issue of Famitsu will give details about Yakuza 5, a title that hasn’t been announed for Western localisation. Yet.
The spiritual succesor to Shenmue, the Yakuza series has released a title a year for the last few years in the West. The zombie-filled Dead Souls was the last title to release in March of this year. The series will now take a break while the fifth title is developed.
Previous issues of Famitsu have suggested that this will be an evolution of the series, featuring a larger game world and also time will be spent fixing developers’ issues with the series that Sega haven’t had time to fix since the series’ debut on the PS3.
The $64,000 question is whether the game will receive a western localisation. I love the series so much I’d play through using a fan translation. Hell, I’m off to order a copy of Kenzan off of eBay and do that right now, I need my Ryu Ga Gotoku fix, dammit!
