The Xbox Live Media Briefing ended just moments ago. For anyone who missed it continue on past the jump for all the news you need to know.
This year’s E3 kicked off with some exciting and insightful Halo 4 in-game footage. We see Master Chief fighting off a new enemy: the Forerunner.
Next up came something I wasn’t expecting, Splinter Cell Blacklist. The story is based on a mysterious terror network and their ongoing terror attacks on the U.S.
After only recently being given the box art and one screenshot, Forza Horizon has now been given a debut trailer:
Gears of War: Judgement was announced and is due for release sometime in 2013.
We were also treated to some Resident Evil 6 Gameplay, South Park: The Stick of Truth and a new Xbox Live Arcade Kinect game called Wreckateer, due for release this summer.
Next up we had a few games that have been announced for next year. These were: Ascend: New Gods, Lococycle and Matter.
New apps for the Xbox 360 were also announced. Nickelodeon, Machinima, Paramount Comdey, NBA and NHL will all be coming this summer with many more due for release bewtween this summer and next year. Xbox Music will be a new service coming soon as well, featuring over 3 million tracks for users to have access to. Internet Explorer will finally make an appearance on our Xbox 360 consoles later on this year, a massive departure for Microsoft, who resolutely refused to have a browser on the original Xbox, to make sure it wasn’t viewed as simply another PC.
Xbox Smart Glass was one of the things that interested me the most. This will allow users to sync their entertianment viewing across multiple platforms including your smartphone and tablet devices. An interesting feature of this was a person watching Game of Thrones and having an actual map of where and what was going on in the show in real time on their tablet. Game developers will also be taking advantage of Xbox Smart Glass. Halo 4 was shown utilising this feature. We were shown a player playing Halo 4 and using his tablet keeping track of his online stats aswell as any game invites recieved. When a game invite came through, the game automatically saved and if the player chooses to accept puts them straight into the mulitplayer match. Xbox Smart Glass launches this fall on Windows 8 and Xbox 360.
Finally the Xbox Media Briefing finished with a Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 gameplay showcase.
